Silicon Dreams
- Written by: Aidy
It seems like only yesterday that we were living it up at Revival and entertaining punters with an 8-Track copy of our album and a CRT television. Well we're doing it all again at another expo next month!
Silicon Dreams is taking place from the 5th to 7th July and we'll be there for the Saturday and Sunday. Come and say hello, it's going to be a great weekend for retro-enthusiasts. We've heard, on good authority, that Steve Furber (part of the original Acorn team and the character that Dave plays in our music video) is going to be doing a talk on the Sunday.

Bespoke Arcades

Dave and myself headed into London today to check out Bespoke Arcade's new show room. We spent a good couple of hours drinking coffee, playing on their arcade cabinets and chatting about all things game related with their Web Developer/marketing bod Vagish Vela. Vagish was kind enough to invite us down to try out their new cabinets and even gave us a cheeky tour of the workshop.
CGE Adventures

It’s been in the making for a while now but it’s finally here! The Retrogaming Roundup crew have officially released their very own Atari 2600 game ‘CGE Adventures’. The game’s based on events that transpired at the Classic Gaming Expo several years ago when a deaf guy stole a spindle of CDs from their booth. The irony of this incident along with a whole host of running gags, that should be familiar to regular listeners of the show, have been worked into this Adventure-esque video game.
You take control of the deaf CD thief himself and your objective is to swipe the spindle of CDs from the Retrogaming Roundup booth and exit the building safely. Sounds simple enough but with the LVPD, the show hosts and even Elvis (to name but a few enemies) out to get you this isn’t as easy as you’d think. Luckily there’s Crazy Carl the custodian randomly wondering around and dropping items on the floor that can help you along the way.
So where do the British IBM fit into all of this?
Remember the good old days when Buckner and Garcia were dominating the charts with Pac-man Fever? Of course you do! Well those days are back (sort of). We were asked to do an original song in homage of CGE Adventures and after a brief stint at Half-Ton Studios we came up with a video game inspired track complete with arcade sound effects. The new song simply entitled ‘CGE Adventures’ is now available from the Retrogaming Roundup website in return for a donation amount of your choosing. 100% of which will go straight back into the podcast and will help the guys out with hosting fees etc. It’s a great podcast and well worth chucking a coins there way!
Get it here!
Revival 2013 Photos

Last weekend Dave and myself made our way up the M6 to Wolverhampton for the first ever Revival Expo. It was literally a retro-geek sensory overload with the likes of Mike Montgomery from Bitmap Brothers wondering about and rare Japanese consoles such as the Sega SG1000 setup and freely available to play! We managed to keep it together though. We assembled our little stall and unleashed the magic of our album on 8-Track and 3.5" floppy. We even had Lunar Panda (a game some friends and I have been working) on display in its own custom arcade cabinet.
It was great to see the Retrogaming Roundup crew there too. They've finally released their long-awaited home-brew Atari 2600 game, CGE Adventures, for which we've recorded a brand spanking new song but more details on that to come.
Oh and amongst other things, I now also own a copy of E.T for the Atari 2600. Purchased for the princely sum of £3 from Retro Lords who had their stall right round the corner from us.
